This page presents information about the beer that won the Best of Show in July, 2008.

What is Yokozuna Beer?

In home brewing competitions, judging is performed in a number of categories, with each beer classified according to a particular style. Prizes are awarded for gold, silver, and bronze in each category. All the beers awarded a gold pass to a final round of judging to decide the best beer. Brewed in collaboration with Loco Beer, the Yokozuna Beer is recreated based on the original recipe of the winner of Best of Show.

What Style is it?

The 2008 winner was from the Belgian Specialty and Belgian Strong Ale Category; the style was Belgian Tripel. Each year, the likelihood of the winning beer being of a different style is very high, and there is no way of knowing beforehand which beer will be the Yokozuna. This is one of the fascinating features of the annual Yokozuna Beer.
